Has anyone upgraded their MySQL to 5.0 in their VPS instance?

Its not possible if you want to continue using Plesk 8.0.1.

Plesk makes use of some SQL JOIN statements in MySQL 4.1.x that are interpreted differently in MySQL 5.x.

Actually, when I login to Plesk, it says:

"MySQL 5.0 support
Plesk 8.1 now fully supports MySQL 5.0, which is the latest stable version of this popular database engine."

So, it should work fine in theory.

That is an interesting question. I'd like to know whether Plesk prevents us from installing most recent versions of PostgreSQL, Apache, PHP...

Maybe someone at gate.com could give us the qualified answers we are starving for.

Plesk 8.1 does support MySQL 5, although by default with Fedora Core 4 MySQL 4.1.2 is installed.

It appears that existing VPSs have Plesk 8.0.x and new ones have Plesk 8.1. It is possible to upgrade from the control panel via Server > (Services) Updater.

Doesn't appear to be an option of a service to upgrade. I see postgres as an option.
