I am currently subscribed to a linux VPS package. I noticed that php v5.0.xxx is currently installed on the server. Because of the Object relational mapping libraries I use to develop, I have to have php v5.2.2.xxx or higher installed. I am about to begin the task, but, I'm a developer by trade, new to the administrator role, and have little experience with linux systems outside of running vim on php.ini and httpd.conf. Is there anything I should know before I get started? Any tips or best practices? Does anyone know of a good walkthrough or tutorial specific to gate, plesk, or fedora core 4? I don't suppose this is a new issue for VPS users, but I havn't found much on the topic in the forum. Any help is appreciated. I plan to post something fairly complete on the subject once I have a good grasp for it. Thank you for your time.
